Symptoms of Diabetes

We need to know the symptoms of diabetes if we are to recognize potential problems in ourselves or in others.

Symptoms of Diabetes By knowing the pathophysiology of diabetes mellitus (type 2 diabetes) we will be able take steps that could lessen the impact and avoid many of the complication from diabetes.

The three main symptoms that most of us are aware of are:

  • frequent urination (polyuria)
  • increased thirst - polydipsia
  • increased appitite - polyphagia
The following are some of the lesser known signs of diabetes to look for.

  • insulin resistance
  • unquenchable thirst
  • unexplained weight lose
  • tingling or numbness in your hands, legs or feet
  • blurred vision
  • Acaanthosis Nigricans
  • abdominal pain
  • vomiting due to keto acid
  • extreme drowsiness or lethargy
  • sweet breath oder
  • chronic infections of the urinary tract or gums
  • high blood pressure
  • numbness in hands or feet
  • wounds that heal slowly
  • women may experience itchiness in vagina area
  • frquent yeast infections

One symptom that is often overlooked is 'prediabetes'. Prediabetes. also known as 'impaired glucose tolerance, means your blood glucose is higher than normal but lower than the diabetes range.

Of course, some of these symptoms can be signs of other diseases as well. The above list of diabetes' symptom will help make you be aware of the more familiar symptoms of dabetes.
